How do I choose a multiplier?

There is no universal correct multiplier. Use a number that keeps comparable work priced consistently and still fits your actual market.

  • $5–$10: accessible pricing, studio sales, newer sellers, or many works on paper.
  • $10–$20: established direct-to-collector pricing for many independent artists.
  • $20–$35+: stronger demand, substantial career history, gallery representation, or higher-cost work.

Use the range as a starting point—not a verdict on quality.

Review your recent sales, materials, scale, demand, and where the work is sold. Keep one multiplier across comparable pieces, and adjust it gradually rather than changing it painting by painting.
